Heeeeey there Vanastasia~ I was hoping to talk to you about something kind of important. Um. Would you mind if we met in the lobby of the hotel? W-When you have time, of course. No real rush on this just uh.

Uh… sure, Lucifer. I can meet you in the lobby. Is… everything okay? You’re not in trouble or anything, right?

I'll be right down.

[dadbeatdad]

Noooo, not in trouble. I'll uh. Tell you when I see you.

[And down in the lobby he will be. With tea. And his seat surrounded by rubber ducks he is just petting. And squeezing occasionally.]

[notamusical]

"Oh, uh— alright. I’m on my way, just give me a second."

[Vaggie wasn’t exactly busy, but the fact that Lucifer actually wanted to talk to her was… unusual. So yeah, that got her attention. A minute or two later, she’s stepping into the lobby—only to be greeted by what could generously be described as a concerning amount of ducks. Honestly, that probably should’ve been her first red flag.]

"...Hey, sir. You, uh… wanted to talk?"

[dadbeatdad]

Ah yes! Sit. Do you like cream? Honey? Sugar? Uuuh scotch? Whiskey?

[Lucifer just poofs the options into existence as he says them.] Um. I wanted to kind of bounce something off you. Because well. We are the only two here from our world so...um. It seems only right I tell you some news. About me.

[notamusical]

[Vaggie froze halfway into sitting, one hand hovering awkwardly over the back of the chair.
All the poofed-in drink options. The ducks. The tone in his voice.
Yeah, this was officially weird.

She eased down into the seat anyway, posture stiff, eye narrowing with wary focus.]

…Okay. I hope it doesn't require scotch. Tea and honey are fine.

[Her gaze flicked from him to the rubber ducks and back.
He seemed nervous. Lucifer. Nervous. That wasn’t comforting.]

What kind of ‘news’ are we talking about? Good news, or I should be worried and will need that scotch news?

[dadbeatdad]

[He quickly pours the tea and adds honey and puts it in front of Vaggie. He swallows and grabs one of his ducks. A dark duck with six...wears and a red scarf on it. Not hard to imagine who he made that one after.]

It's good news! Um. Good big emotional news and you're the like closest person I have to Charlie to talk to about it. And honestly I'm still a bit nervous about it all but...

I suppose coming out and saying it is better than stalling, right? Unless you want caviar or little finger sandwiches to go with your tea?

No! I mean, yes if you want to but that's more stalling.

{He takes a big BIG breath.]

I am thinking of getting remarried and asking Macaque to marry me. There. That's the news.

[He snaps his fingers and a mountain of caviar finger sandwiches appears because of course it does.]

[Vaggie picks up the teacup… then freezes. Her wings twitch. Her eyes go wide.]

Wait—what?!? Ay, por Dios… ¿qué voy a hacer contigo?

[Nearly dropping the tea cup, she just stares as suddenly there is a mountain of sandwiches and caviar.]

You’re thinking of getting remarried?! That’s… great.

Um, when are you asking them?

[dadbeatdad]

[Lucifer jumps with the reaction and chuckles awkwardly.]

Uh...yes. That's kind of what I'm trying to decide. I'm considering Sinsmans? But it feels so soon. But I know he'll say yes. But I'm still so nervous.

Do you think Sinsmas is a good time?

[notamusical]

Well, if you're thinking about it, and you're pretty sure that they'll say yes, it's not really all that soon. And you have plenty of time to figure out how you want to ask them. Sinsmas is pretty close, but not that close.

But yeah I could see why you'd be nervous, it's a pretty big step to take.

[dadbeatdad]

True. Right. I have time. A full month and some days. It is a big step. The how is where part of my plan gets stuck.

I know it will be just us. Not some grand public display. He won't like it if I do that.

[notamusical]

Alright, so something private, something small but personal. That's good, it will be a lot easier to plan.

What would the two of you usually do?

[dadbeatdad]

We go on walks, do dates. We love musical theatre together. Sing sometimes. Dance. And other things, of course. Oh! And drink hot chocolate together.

[notamusical]

So take him on a walk to someplace special, then do it there.

[dadbeatdad]

That is an excellent idea! Oh you are good at this! Thank you! Ducks. I'm going to need ducks.

[Of course, the invitation doesn't come in an envelope - rather, it's tucked inside a nice box alongside...

... A Labuwu of himself. Yes, the one he got from Hijikata. Yes, he saw that exchange, went "whoops", and decided Vaggie should have it.
For what it's worth, there's also a better little gift - a necklace with a glowing, red gemstone, wire-wrapped as its pendant. Literally glowing, too; it's one of the few he saved from his trip through the Hell dimension.

And written on the back of the invitation is a note:

I apologize that you've been stuck listening to my woes like some sort of unpaid bartender from a film noir, but thank you for doing so with patience and grace. I don't think I can describe how much it means to me.

Charlie will also be invited, so if there is someone else you wish to bring as your plus one, you're free to do so.



... Yes, even his signature is gilded. Don't worry about it, he's just as extra as always.]

[Vaggie opened the box, surprised to find the invitation, as well as the Labuwu and necklace. At the note, she got a small laugh, though she realized she'd probably dumped just as much on him. And if Charlie was invited, she didn't really have any idea of who she could or would bring as a plus one. Charlie, Louis, and Lucifer were really the only three people she'd spoken to more than once so far.

And though it wasn't asked for, she'll write up a small RSVP and send it back along with a thank-you card for the gifts. Nothing nearly as fancy or elaborate as the invitation, but still something to acknowledge that she appreciated it and that she'd be there.]

Since it's Sinsmas this month, I had a wonderful idea of something we could do for it!! Let me know when we can talk, okay~?

OKAY! So. I was totally thinking that we could wear matching Sinsmas sweaters or something!

I think it'd be REALLY cute and it would be a way for us to show our spirit for the season together.

Sure, that could be fun. Have you picked them out already? [Please don't be super embarrassing.]

I have a few in mind but I want your opinion on them first!! Sure they aren't directly Sinsmas and more leaning toward this world's version of it buuuuut it's the thought that counts, you know?

Well they probably don't celebrate Sinsmas, but there does seem to be a lot of overlap. But I'm glad that you're getting into it.

[ A pause followed, her eyes bright as she almost seemed to lean in a bit closer on the video feed. ]

Are you busy now? We should totally go pick some out and maybe some decorations for the hotel too!
